Hi everyone,
A few of you following my adventures may know that I was here to research a trucking story set in 1974 a couple years ago. x1heavy stepped up and helped me with a lot of vintage details.
To my shock and delight, the story will be a feature film (rather than a short film) shot in Texas, hopefully this fall.
To populate the truck stops, we will need some vintage semis (1974 and earlier) parked in the background, for which we will pay compensation and provide insurance, accommodation, and gas money. I thought it might be like a mini-convention if anyone is looking for a reason to paid meet up with friends and have a barbecue.
I am also trying to purchase a cab or bobtail from a Peterbilt circa 1970. Doesn’t matter if there’s a working engine or not–it will be towed during shooting. In order to fit a camera in that tiny cab we will need to cut it apart and fabricate camera mounts. Same stuff they did for Fury Road.
I’ll be in Texas March 9-15 working with the Texas Film Commission if anyone in that state or nearby is interested in showing me their vehicles. I’ll probably be back again a few times if that date range does not work. I know my Texan friends are having a rough time of it right now.
If you prefer to contact me off this website, my email is cathgulick@gmail.com.
I’ll tell x1heavy y’all said hey.
