Sounds like this company is from Chicago, right? He’s on 1099, right? The owners/dispatchers are all foreign, right?
He got sucked in by the promises of big money… hope y’all are prepared for tax time!
Learn the lesson: all that glitter is not gold. 1099 is the sign of a shady “employer” who wants all the money from the trucks, and generally structures things like this to keep all the driver’s money that they can.
Go get a regular W4 position.
