We have had some bad luck or is it just poor design with our 2014 HINO 338.
2 years ago we drove with the ABS light on , not to long or far , but it was on. Not knowing that when ABS light is on it puts the transmission ( Allison ) into safe mode by locking torque converter, which in turn reduces the flow of oil. So by driving with ABS light on you in turn cook your transmission so I am told. Shame on us. We paid the price and put in a new Allison transmission 2000rm in.
But now 2 years later and 70,000klm on the transmission it fries up again with no warning ( and just 2 months ago we had the transmission fully serviced oil and filters). Abs light did come on a few months back as well, but same day we took it to dealer and they did a $300 brake job to solve that issue. So now we have to replace the transmission again , with the transmission shop saying it is due to ABS ( even though no ABS light on) and dealer shop saying not much for details/vague.
Any mechanics out their got insight into this?
Does this happen with other makes? ie the cummins motors?
thanks
