Accident with cdl | TruckersReport.com Trucking Forum

No you never ever have to retake the driving test for CDL. Some states require you retake the computer test for each endorsement when you transfer your CDL to a new state, like when you move. All states require if you move your CDL and have HazMat you have to retake the HazMat test.

BTW, DO NOT let your CDL expire. Renew it before it expires. If you let it expire, they you probably will have to retake all of the driving and pre-trip and endorsement tests. If you decide not to keep working and using your CDL, just change your self-certification with your state and pick a category that does not require a current DOT medical card. Never use your CDL in a manner that requires a current medical card unless you have a medical card.
