Your friend searching from the same “start point” (presumably a large metro area) and range shows 500+ loads available, but you are showing only one or two for that same city? Check the way you have your filters set, you must have something screwed up.
And yes, for “power only” Amazon is really the only carrier to offer a decent number of loads. I had to go with Amazon for a couple of months when I first got started because I simply couldn’t find a good trailer for sale then. Although you might start calling around to small local companies and letting them know you are available should anything come up? Or perhaps lease out to bigger carrier if you are willing to work full time?
* Something is not right with your “500” number. I’m based in Seattle, Amazon’s home town, and the typical number of power only loads available every day in the Puget Sound region (using a 100 mile range setting) is around 20-40.
Edit – your friend sounds like he probably didn’t specify any “Origin” (or range) in his search box. So yeah, he would be seeing all Amazon loads available in the entire US.
