Hi there folks! it’s been a while but I am glad to be back. This is my go-to forum for trucking questions and I’m proud to be a part of the industry over the years. This forum, when I was starting out, showed me the most compassion and understanding and disproved the negative stereotypes of truckers being old and grumpy.
but enough of the gooey stuff, lets get down to brass tacks.
So, I was terminated for a reason that doesn’t effect my MVR and I’m not sure about my DAC but it wouldn’t surprise me if it didn’t make its way there. Long story short, I was filling in as a yard hostler and this yard is infamously tight. There was an especially tight spot I had to get my trailer into and I ended up getting trapped in a muddy spot on a parking lot island. I turned off the differentials and got out but not without completely tearing up the excuse of a lawn they had….well, I guess the client wasnt too happy about that and this company let me go because of it. No worries though. I had been having problems with this company for a long time and maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Despite the fleet being small, they didnt treat me well even though I put in more work then half the people there. I see it as very unfair but they are within their right to terminate anyone.
Anyways, I’m in the Dallas texas area. Does anybody know of any good carriers here? maybe smaller ones that can get me hired on? I’ve got three years of experience combined OTR/Local/Yard Hostler. No endorsements though and an automatic restriction but willing to acquire what is needed if the job seems right. I’d like daily home time but sometimes thats difficult to come by and the pay isn’t too great. I just really cant afford to net any less than 1k a week so at the time being, im willing to work regional if it guarantees me consistent home time. The short answer to why is that I own a home and also that I’m in college (online).
I guess the carrier doesnt need to be based in the dfw metro but needs to be able to get me home to dallas on a regular basis.
Anyways, apologies in advance if this is in the wrong section, and if anyone has any questions for me or leads on good companies that treat their employees right, I’d appreciate hearing from the truckers before I have the recruiters promising me the world. Wouldnt this industry be in so much better shape if recruiters were just honest? There I go again, having unrealistic expectations.
