You are not a truck traveling thru, you are going home.
A man has a right to work, no matter the profession, be it a 1ton plumber truck or a rig.
Keep the rpm low as possible, mellow thru and maybe give a nod and smile at the neighbors.
But if it is a small community, I agree with the local authority contact, that will look good on you, that you give a hoot to do so. Small Town folks are often, well, odd.
